The Senior Equipment Engineer will devise new approaches to problems encountered. Engineering specialty is the design and development of R&D, pilot and production capital equipment (injection molding design, jigs, fixtures, tooling and automated machines) per ISO 9000 standards.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Independently perform work which involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents. Lead project teams coordinating the efforts of engineers, technicians and other professionals of various disciplines/departments to design, develop, and continuously improve medical device products. Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. Perform work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such a conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and difficult coordination requirement. Perform engineering work typically including one of the following: capital equipment design and development (including injection molded design, jigs, fixtures, tooling and automated machines), test of materials, preparation of specifications, process study, report preparation, research and purchase of commercial components, validation of all equipment, and other activities of wide scope requiring broad knowledge of precedents in equipment design and development and good knowledge of principles and practices of related specialties. Interface with vendors and other outside specialists. Interface with various departments necessary for design, assembly, and implementation of equipment. Perform responsibilities required by the Quality System and other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:
BS in related discipline, plus 5-8 years directly related experience. Or, MS +2-4 years directly related experience; or, the equivalent combination of education and experience required to perform at this level. Proficient with Solidworks 3D modeling. Strong experience working with injection molding design. Understand process validation. Individual will have function of either project leader or team member as required by equipment related to new product development, pilot or production support projects (VIP, CIP). Proven experience working with vendors on equipment/injection molded specifications. Able to partner effectively with R&D on design for manufacturability (DFM) requirements. Automation and Injection Molding experiences are big plusses!
