Description
The Manufacturing Engineering I is an entry-level position to professional engineering work. Performs assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities, and to support the efforts and tasks assigned to more senior engineers. May also receive formal classroom or seminar-like training. This is a developmental position working under close supervision and receiving specific and detailed instructions as to required tasks and results expected. Area of works involves manufacturing processes with interaction between production and engineering group in resolving problems encountered on the production floor.
Specific Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of routine tasks that are planned to provide experience and familiarization with the engineering staff, team, methods, practices, and programs of the company. Supports project/product development tasks to more senior engineers with work including any of the following: Writing and/or verifying specifications, maintaining product/process documentation, designing fixtures, testing processes, equipment, raw materials and product, and validating equipment and processes, identifying and implementing process/product improvement alternatives, participating in Quality Circle (REFINE) activities. Interfaces with assemblers, production supervisors, and engineers in troubleshooting problems on the production floor.Coordinates with the appropriate suppliers and other external resources needed in developing and implementing process/product improvement plans. Trains assembly and quality control and technician personnel as necessary on processes and coordinates pilot production. Attends product-related meetings. Performs responsibilities required by the Quality System and other duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum education/Associate Degree +5 years progressive technical
experience:experience, or BS, or equivalent combination of education/experience required to perform at this level.
Engineering technology experience in a manufacturing environment recommended, preferably medical devices or equivalent education/experience required to perform minimum duties of the job. Strong assembly skills and experience with documentation. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Processes, Good Laboratory Practices, Just-In-Time helpful.
